EMRIP: Side event on matching mandates to advance indigenous peoples' rights

Next week in Geneva, the Indigenous Navigator Initiative will host a side event at the 11th session of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP).
Taking into consideration that the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP) is increasing is country engagement, the event will discuss the possible collaborations with national human rights institutions.
Increased collaboration between EMRIP, national human rights institutions (NHRIs) and regional human rights mechanisms is likely to create synergies, and help advance the implementation of indigenous peoples’ rights at the country level.
The side-event will:
- Present tools and data on indigenous peoples’ rights and development
- Highlight NHRI experiences and good practices in the promotion and protection of indigenous peoples’ rights
- Discuss how to increase collaboration between EMRIP, NHRIs and Regional Human Rights Institutions at the country level.
